Challenged to pray for God’s leading in where He would have me serve, I found a specific calling to Oglala Lakota Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Following His path, we reached out to the Lakota people of Pine Ridge and began palletizing and shipping nonperishable food contributions. Depending on contents, typical food shipments vary from 1,000 – 1,200 lbs. Along with buffalo meat provided by the OST, the food that we have been able to contribute has been distributed through OSPRA to families suffering the loss of a loved one, to prepare a funeral meal in their honor.
From there, our mission has grown to assist homeless communities and the general needs of tribal members with food and winter clothing support.
We share this to extend the same challenge I once received: to pray for where God may have you to serve. Many are active in community organizations, church groups, school projects, and a variety of programs supporting others. If you feel truly blessed and are already contributing to a cause of helping in another need, I praise you.
If not, and your heart feels for the Kul Wicasa, Oglala Lakota, and Sicangu men, women, and children of The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Oglala Lakota Nation – Pine Ridge, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Crow Creek Reservation, Standing Rock, and/or The Rosebud Reservation – with a desire to help, please let me know.
It is simply giving with all expenses covered and there are no additional costs to what we do. Our offer is to 100% match any currently dated nonperishable foods, personal hygiene items, or winter clothing that you feel led to contribute, From there, we will organize the shipping of those items into Cheyenne River, Crow Creek, Lower Brule, Pine Ridge, Rosebud, or Standing Rock.
