First Light – Wall, South Dakota.
We have long stood in awe of God’s amazing hand of creation displayed throughout nature. From quiet sunrises to majestic mountain vistas, His artistry has always stirred our hearts with gratitude and wonder.
Now, in this season of retirement, we’ve been blessed with something especially precious… time. Time to explore, to reflect, and to journey to places we often dream about. With this gift of opportunity, we’ve ventured on some truly incredible trips and experienced some of the most breathtaking corners of His creation.
Sunrise and sunset are the bookends defining a specific day. They are always stunning, and without fail, so incredibly unique. We all carry special memories of watching the faithful rising and setting of the sun as a day begins and ends.
A few sunrises that are at the top of my list are elk hunting in Utah – hiking into a mountain meadow in the dark as bull elk screamed through the timber, just before the day burst open in a fireball of color on the aspens. Or bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee, watching the stars and darkness slowly fade as the horizon filled with sweeping brushstrokes of pink and orange. Equally, was standing on the gangplank 195 feet above the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center, witnessing the night sky transform to blaze orange from where the Space Shuttle crews entered the orbiter to begin the next mission.
And so many more… like waking up to yet another sky-on-fire display in the wide open beauty of South Dakota.
Every sunrise, every sunset – always glorious, always different.
We’re excited to begin sharing more of these adventures with you – moments that have inspired us, deepened our faith, and reminded us of the beauty and grandeur surrounding us every day.
We hope our journeys encourage you, uplift you, and perhaps even inspire a few adventures of your own.
