The pain and suffering caused by the death of a close friend or family member knows no boundaries.
Some time ago, I was challenged to pray for God’s leading in where He would have me to serve. The answer to that prayer came swiftly and specifically – The Oglala Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota.
In seeking His path, and through reaching out to the Sioux people of Pine Ridge, we began purchasing, packaging, palletizing and sending nonperishable food contributions. Along with bison meat provided by the OST, the food that we’ve been able to share has been distributed through OSPRA to families suffering through the emotional pain of a funeral. This, so that a meal could be prepared in their honor.
A typical food shipment has varied from 700 – 1,000 lbs. depending on the actual contents.
We share this to extend the same challenge that I once received. That is, to pray for where God may have you to serve. Many are active in community organizations, church groups, school projects and a variety of programs supporting others. If you feel truly blessed and are already contributing to a cause of helping in another need, I praise you.
If not and you feel a heart for the Oglala Lakota Nation with a desire to help, please let me know.
