BadLands Pronghorn

Pronghorn antelope are native to South Dakota and are found in strong numbers primarily west of the Missouri River. Grazing across wide-open grasslands provides not only a steady food source, but also a crucial advantage – visibility. Their eyesight is among the best in the animal kingdom, allowing them to detect danger from great distances.

Known as North America’s fastest land animal, pronghorn have earned the nickname “speed goats,” capable of reaching speeds exceeding 60 mph. With miles of rolling prairie at their disposal and the ability to maintain highway-like speeds over long distances, any predator attempting to bring one down faces a formidable challenge.
