RÉSO – Old Montréal, Québec – Canada.
We jumped at the chance when an invitation came for a quick getaway to Old Montréal, Québec. Nestled along the Saint Lawrence River and dating back to the 1600s, this historic district is a captivating blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy. From its striking architecture to its rich culinary scene, Old Montréal offers a distinctly European feel in the heart of Canada. Its centuries-old streets and lively culture continue to shape the city’s unique character and enduring appeal.
RÉSO – is one of the most fascinating urban design systems in the world and is pictured here. It’s not a “city” in the traditional sense, but a vast interconnected network beneath Montreal that functions like a parallel downtown.
Originally developed to help residents cope with Montréal’s harsh winters, RÉSO has evolved into a year-round pedestrian network linking office towers, shopping centers, universities, hotels, and transit hubs. It connects major metro stations operated by Société de transport de Montréal, making it possible to move across large parts of downtown without stepping outside.
A few things make it especially interesting:
What really sets RÉSO apart is how seamlessly it blends commuting, shopping, dining – with architecture and infrastructure. It’s easy to spend hours wandering through it, sometimes without realizing how far you’ve gone.
We’re thrilled to share more of these adventures – experiences that have inspired us, strengthened our faith, and shown us the awe-inspiring beauty of the world around us.
Our hope is that these journeys will inspire and uplift you, and maybe even spark a few adventures of your own!
