Oil, much like electricity will flow the path of least resistance.  This condition is known as Pascal’s Law.  When flow/pressure is required from one common pump, a critical system design component is a multi-port manifold with built in metering valves.

This, along with manually operated load holding check valves will allow the operator the ability to make manual adjustments to ensure a safe and even cycling of the hydraulic cylinders.
